“Sophistication is keeping things simple but elevated,” Freeman says. “So, I wanted the space to be clutter-free.” While a subtly patterned rug and an eye-catching lighting fixture add intrigue, the home office is decidedly simple-letting the soothing view outside, and attractive but functional furnishings, do most of the talking, so that the resident can focus on the work at hand.
A mix of beiges, taupes, and creams round out the color palette, which adds to the calming effect of the space. Freeman found the perfect pop of color in the form of the rust-colored swivel chairs from CB2, which add dimension to the room without overwhelming it.
Built-in shelving is a luxe feature that everyone loves to have in their home, and are especially useful in an office space. Freeman’s special touch? Adding LED backlights that illuminate the books, photos, and decorative objects on display.
